The Pelican Bay Safety and Security Department is responsible for ensuring member safety and securing the Foundation’s amenities and assets. This is done through in-depth training, responsiveness and focusing on a culture of quality and consistent customer service. All Pelican Bay year-round staff have been trained in First Aid, CPR and the use of AEDs. Our year-round security staff is specifically trained and certified to assist with medical emergencies that may occur on Foundation property prior to EMS arrival. The responsibilities for the Safety and Security Department are: • Safety & Security – to ensure the safety and security of Foundation members, guests, employees, assets and amenities. Oversee the safety and security of Foundation offices, buildings, shops and restaurants. • Lost & Found – to secure and return Lost & Found items for members and guests. Disability Access Tram – The Pelican Bay Foundation has a wheelchair accessible tram that is available by appointment through calling the front desk of The Commons at 239-5978081. Reservations are required and requests should be made 24 hours in advance to ensure availability. The tram is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note, the tram is rated for five passengers. Any additional passengers must ride a regular tram. The wheelchair ramp is rated for 1,200 pounds, which includes the weight of the person and the chair. The following is general information to keep in mind when accessing foundation properties. Foundation Cards It is Foundation policy that members/ guests are required to present their Foundation-issued ID cards when accessing community amenities. The Foundation has the obligation to verify and confirm authorized use of Foundation property and has the authority to deny access to, or use of, Foundation property to any individual not able to demonstrate they are an eligible user in good standing. All members using the berms, boardwalks and decks must carry and present a Foundation-issued ID card to Foundation staff upon request while on Foundation property. Guests are required to carry a Foundation-issued guest card and government-issued photo ID. Members/guests who are unable or unwilling to present their cards may be turned away or will be considered trespassers on private property and may be subject to an encounter with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. • Everyone 13 years old and older needs to have a member or guest card to use any of the amenities, including the berms and boardwalks. • Each member may bring up to six accompanied guests with them at a time. Members must remain with their accompanied guests at all times. • Guests cannot bring guests. Each unaccompanied guest must have their own card along with a governmentissued photo ID. • All members and guests should expect their Member ID to be verified at the following locations along the berms and boardwalks: Station No. 2, Station No. 4, Station No. 5, Station No. 6, Station No. 8, entrances to the boardwalks and when accessing a tram. Berms, Boardwalks and Decks Use of berms, boardwalks and decks shall be exclusively for members, tenants, accompanied guests, guests with guest cards and governmentissued photo ID, and other holders of Foundation-issued ID cards. All others will be denied access. • All traffic shall keep to the right. • People using berms, boardwalks and decks will do so, at all times, in a manner that does not endanger the safety of others. • The speed and manner of operation of bicycles and rollerbladers shall be adjusted to traffic conditions, congestion, ingress and egress points and weather conditions. • Bicycles should be equipped with a warning bell that is to be used when passing. • The berms, boardwalks and decks may not be blocked at any time. • Berms may be used by pedestrians, cyclists, baby strollers, rollerbladers, wheelchairs and trams. • No skateboards, scooters, electric bikes or hoverboards are allowed on the berms. • No pets, bikes or skateboards are allowed on the boardwalk. • Motorized vehicles (battery, gas, solar, etc.) other than trams and electric wheelchairs are prohibited from the berm, boardwalks and decks. • Small-sized carriers for stand-up paddleboards are permitted on boardwalks provided they are not so large as to impede tram traffic. These carriers and/or paddleboards are not permitted on the tram.
