Examples of exterior projects include, but are not limited to: • A/C replacement • Roof replacement • Painting or repainting (even if it is the same color) • Cutting down or removing one tree • Driveway/walkway/parking area replacements (i.e., new pavers) • Installing or replacing a fence • Installing or removing solar panels • Flagpole/flag (adding or replacing) • Pool screen installation or replacement • EV (electric vehicle) charging stations • Outdoor lighting projects • Mailbox replacements or changes • Pool/spa renovations (with no expansion in size or footprint of patio/lanai) • Window and door replacement (includes entry doors, garage doors, sliders, hurricane windows, etc.) • Installation of any outdoor equipment (A/C units, pool equipment, generators, propane tanks, etc.) • Installation of antennas/dishes or communication equipment on the ground or roof top • Dumpsters/PODS/trailers or port-o-lets on site Major Projects This type of project includes renovations, expansions, additions, façade changes, elevation changes to buildings or land, etc. Reviews will be completed within 30 to 60 working days of receipt of application and all requirements for the project by the Design Review & Covenants Department. All fees must be paid prior to any approvals being granted or work started. Examples of major projects include, but are not limited to: • Structural changes to any building • Changes in façade or elevations • Changes in grade elevations • Any alteration, construction or project not listed above as a minor project • All landscape projects not listed above as a minor project • Adding or removing a pool, spa or pool cage • Installation of fountains/ponds • Artwork installations • Renovation projects that increase the footprint of the interior or exterior of the building or property (including garages, clubhouses, pools, spas, decks, patios, front entries, gate houses, parking areas, parking decks, etc.) • A complete tear down, renovation or rebuild of a property Landscape Projects All changes to landscaping must be reviewed and approved by the Design Review & Covenants Department. These changes may also require a review by Collier County and permits may be required. Reviews will be completed within 60 to 90 working days of receipt of the application along with all requirements. Design review fees will apply for the review process, changes and/or re-reviews and will be the responsibility of the owner. All fees must be paid to the Foundation prior to any approvals being granted or work started. Examples of landscape projects include, but are not limited to: • Minor landscape changes • Major landscape changes • Tree removals (more than one tree) • Tree installations/replacements • Exterior lighting changes • Water feature installations • Outdoor art installations • Fencing, gates and walls In addition to obtaining approval for your project, it is important that you and your contractors are familiar with the construction guidelines for working in Pelican Bay. These guidelines include information such the work hours in Pelican Bay, parking requirements, tree protection, fencing, dumpster and port-o-let requirements, signage, clean building site requirements and enforcement of construction projects. Owners will be held responsible for compliance with these guidelines and any infractions by an owner and/or their contractors may result in fines being levied or a possible halt to all work on a project. A copy of the construction guidelines is available on the Pelican Bay website (www.pelicanbay.org) under the Members tab.
