Joining the Pelican Bay Women’s League (PBWL) offers a way for women to quickly make new friends and enjoy organized activities while in residence. Over a quarter of a century ago, a group of women in Pelican Bay formed an organization to enrich the lives of members, and the group is stronger and more vibrant than ever today. Being a member of PBWL makes life much more interesting and fulfilling. The League does offer many events, but more importantly, by joining, you become part of a sisterhood. Connecting is the easiest way to make Pelican Bay more deeply our “home” when we are here through the association of other women throughout Pelican Bay. Wherever we women are, we want to connect with others and enjoy life. We want to make friends, attend events, learn something new, play cards, plan a party, organize a tea, sing songs, discuss books, go on tours, hear interesting lectures and learn about our area. Most importantly, we simply want to connect with other women, talk and laugh. The all-volunteer board organizes social, cultural and educational programs and activities to promote the spirit of our community. A popular and very active organization, membership is open to women residents. Becoming a member is a wonderful way to make friends with women in various communities throughout Pelican Bay, share common interests and enjoy new and stimulating activities. The League sponsors monthly luncheons from October through May at a variety of country clubs and restaurants in the Naples area, with themes and professional entertainment. Special events are offered during the season such as a gathering at the beach or dinner and dancing at a club. Various guided tours of area organizations, points of interest, businesses or museums are also offered. We also organize classical music serenades as well as tours of art organizations throughout Naples. More than 25 interest groups are offered through the Pelican Bay Women’s League with something for everyone. Members are encouraged to participate in smaller, more focused groups to learn or pursue a passion. These groups and activities include Mahjong, Birding, Book Club, Bridge, Tech Learners, Herb Study Group, Memoir Writing, Junior Member Group, AtHome Coffees, Writer’s Group, Bay Widows, Mindfulness and Meditation, Wednesday Walkers, Pelican Bay Jammers, French Culture and Language, Women of Watercolor, and many more. The PBWL actively participates in the larger Pelican Bay community. It annually co-sponsors with the Pelican Bay Foundation the annual resident Art Show in the spring at the Community Center. The PBWL also sponsors a weekly speaker series that is open to all women residents of Pelican Bay and features women of accomplishment who live in the Naples region. We offer community outreach groups including the Kneedlers who donate their work to the wounded soldiers and area charitable organizations. The Songbirds perform at area elder care facilities and offer concerts in Pelican Bay. PBWL also has a group of Ambassadors who represent the League in their Pelican Bay communities. Membership in the League is necessary to participate and registration for luncheons and special events can be found online.
