Pelican Bay Men’s Coffee Pelican Bay Men’s Coffee, a vibrant community gathering, has been bringing men together since 1995. What started as a casual coffee chat among neighbors — organized by the group's founder, Joe Adams — has evolved into a stimulating forum for intellectual exchange and camaraderie. The group began as an informal gathering at South Beach restaurant where a few Pelican Bay men met to discuss current events, local governance and other current issues affecting life in Pelican Bay. As word of the group spread, the number of attendees swelled. With an ever-increasing attendance, the decision was made to move Men's Coffee to the Community Center and invite outside speakers to address the group, setting the organization’s foundational format that continues today. Every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., men from Pelican Bay gather at the Community Center to enjoy coffee, doughnuts and engaging presentations on a wide range of topics. Speakers are brought in from around the community, the country and the world, to give presentations on topics from current events and history to science, technology and culture. The format of Men's Coffee meetings is designed to encourage participation. After the presentation, the floor is opened for questions and comments, creating a dynamic and interactive atmosphere. This allows attendees to delve deeper into the topic, share their thoughts and connect with others who share their interests. The group’s diverse membership offers unique perspectives, fostering lively discussions. Beyond the intellectual stimulation, Men's Coffee provides an invaluable opportunity for social interaction. It is a chance to meet new people, strengthen existing friendships and build a strong sense of community. The relaxed and friendly environment promotes conversations and the forging of lasting bonds. In the summer of 2024, a new Board was formed to chart an exciting, new path forward for Men's Coffee. Whether you are a long-time resident or a newcomer, you are invited to join us and contribute to this enriching tradition.
