landscaping, trees and interior lakes;
enhancing visual appeal by maintain-
ing well-kept, high quality entrances
and streetscapes; and maintaining a
safe community.
GOAL 3
Promote Operational Excellence
Members value living in a well-run,
financially stable community that
emphasizes member satisfaction.
The survey showed they consider the
“overall management of Foundation
common areas and amenities” to be
the community service of highest
importance and they also give it high
marks, with 95 percent expressing
satisfaction. Members also place high
importance on maintaining a “finan-
cially strong Pelican Bay Foundation”
and a “strong employee focus on
member satisfaction” going forward.
This goal calls for the Foundation
to continue to set and achieve high
standards for operations to maintain
financial stability, promote member
satisfaction, and provide good
value for member fees. Related
objectives include maintaining a
high quality workforce, strengthen-
ing technology utilization, and
developing measures and processes
to foster continuous improvement.
GOAL 4
Maintain High Quality Facilities
Having passed the 30-year mark,
Pelican Bay’s facilities and infrastruc-
ture must be renewed to continue to
meet member needs and maintain
Pelican Bay’s attractiveness. The latest
survey found that members consider
it a high priority to have “facilities
renewed to high standards.” They also
saw room for improvement in “main-
taining infrastructure to high service
standards.” Space availability emerged
as an issue for users of the Fitness
Center and the tennis courts, and park-
ing availability at beach access points
emerged as a growing concern.
This goal calls for the Foundation
to pursue a program of planned
improvements of facilities, including
the improvements planned or underway
for the Commons and South Beach,
with the Community Center to fol-
low as resources permit. Plans must
be supported by a capital budgeting
process that reflects priorities, costs and
fee impacts, with regular updates and
communications to members.
GOAL 5
Provide High Quality Bundled
Amenities as a Feature of
Pelican Bay Membership
Pelican Bay’s package of included
amenities and services
was cited by most mem-
bers as an important
factor in their decision
to move to Pelican Bay.
This goal is aimed at
maintaining high satis-
faction with the services
and amenities that
are heavily used by all
members, particularly
the beach restaurants,
beach services, and tram
services. It also includes
providing sought-after
amenities that appeal to significant seg-
ments of current members and future
purchasers, including active tennis and
fitness programs. More generally, it calls
for the Foundation to monitor larger
trends for member services and ameni-
ties at communities like Pelican Bay, as
input for planning.
GOAL 6
Promote Healthy Living
A majority of members reported
that the opportunity to lead an active
outdoor lifestyle was very important in
their decision to move to Pelican Bay.
Pelican Bay’s emphasis on fitness and
wellness programs and the extensive
network of pathways and outdoor
recreation opportunities contribute to
that lifestyle.
This goal calls for the Foundation to
continue to support a healthy lifestyle
by promoting outdoor recreation and
maintaining facilities in excellent condi-
tion, by supporting member physical
fitness with high-quality tennis and
fitness programs, and by promoting
member wellness through programs
that enhance health and well-being.

Promote Community Connections
The member survey showed that
there is a strong sense of community
